Snowy Plains Sled Dog Adventures

Snowy Plains sled dog adventuresHave you ever watched the U. P. 200 Sled Dog Races?  Have you ever wondered what it was like race in the Iditarod?  You can experience something similar at the Snow Plains Kennel.  The Snowy Plains Kennel is located just minutes south of Marquette Michigan near the quaint town of Gwinn. They specialize in sled dog rides using mostly Alaskan huskies bred for running and pulling. The dogs may be hard working by day but are sweet, affectionate and gentle, sure to leave a lasting memory.

Sled dog rides at Snowy Plains Kennels range from 2.5 miles to 5 miles, or choose an extended ride. They even offer trips where you can learn to drive your own dogsled or be escorted to dinner via sled.  Looking for a great dinner option after a day out on the trails? Visit The Up North Lodge in Gwinn for “Almost Famous” Ribs, full dinner menu and a hopping bar. If you’re lucky, you may see a family of deer out the restaurant’s many windows!

To set up your own sled dog adventure just give owners Jim & Jackie Winkowski a call at 906-249-1011 or email them at [email protected] and they will be happy to schedule a dog sled adventure you will be talking about for years.  For more information on prices visit their website at www.snowyplains.com.
