February, 2015 – Beer of the Month – Blackrock’s North Third Stout

In the heart of winter, things tend to move a little slower and the pace of daily life is a little more relaxed. But, there’s definitely one thing worth speeding up for! February is the last month to grab a can (or of course, a mug!) of Blackrocks Brewery’s winter seasonal release, North Third Stout.

An absolutely delicious stout offering, North Third is meant to be enjoyed in the heart of the winter months served frosty cold. North Third Stout (named after Blackrock’s street location on N. Third Street in Marquette) is a Foreign Extra Stout style beer. According to Blackrocks brewer Steve Farr, “We (the brewers) wanted to brew a tasty, full bodied beer that could be enjoyed while getting out and exploring winter. We believe the beer is full of roasted malt and chocolate characters with a nice balancing bitterness from the Mt. Hood and Fuggles hops.”

With a custom designed can logo depicting the street crossing sign just outside the microbrewery covered in snow, the winter release is available November through February. Finishing at 6% ABV, this silky smooth, satifying beer will warm up your cheeks when the cold winter winds howl.

In its fifth year of operation, Blackrocks has set quite a reputation for releasing delicious beer to the public, and we believe that North Third Stout is definitely one of their top creations so far. Whether it be via can, growler, or custom designed clay mug, you’ve got to taste North Third Stout before time runs out…
